Aspen Ambulance is an integral part of the Aspen Valley Hospital Network of Care. Our 24-hour Emergency Medical Services (EMS) extend from Aspen’s community center to the area’s famous rivers, mountain peaks, hiking trails and legendary slopes.

Aspen Ambulance specializes in critical care emergency response, swift water rescue and high angle (rope) rescue, providing pre-hospital emergency medical services and inter-facility transfers at an exceptionally high level of care that meets the demands of our rugged terrain and the residents and visitors who live, work and play in the greater Aspen area. We go beyond traditional emergency response in our commitment to keeping our community safe, also focusing on prevention, education, emergency management and medical support for special events such as the Winter XGames and the Aspen Backcountry Marathon.

About Us

Aspen Ambulance District, located on the Aspen Valley Hospital campus, provides a wide range of services from first aid care at community events to life-saving treatment throughout Pitkin County. The ambulance service is staffed with a skilled team of EMTs, paramedics and critical care paramedics offering leading-edge pre-hospital medicine to the residents and visitors to the greater Aspen area.

For Visitors

The Roaring Fork Valley starts at the top of Independence Pass at 12,095 ft and winds its way down to Glenwood Springs at 5,761 ft. Wherever you are in the valley, you’re above the threshold of 5,280 ft where people may start to feel the effects of altitude. Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of altitude sickness and what you can do to minimize the effects.
